My Love for the City

Pune,

you’ve never let me down. From the day when I stepped into you I fell in love with you.You fulfilled All of my wishes and answered all my prayers. I dont miss being at home, because you are my home. You have always given me the best for me, always beyond my expectation.

Now when I will have to leave you, dont think that I will ever forget you. You will always have a special place in my heart. You taught me what I can be and what I can achieve in my life. You have given me the best experiences of my life, You have given me freedom, made me strong in my tough times. You made me whatever I am today.

I am already too much grateful to you. these 4 years of my life is the most dynamic and most memorable. You turned me upside down and helped me bring out the best in me. I achieved so much good in you that it wiped out all my bad memories.

While I am turning the pages of my life I’ve already made a bookmark of you. So whenever I will get a chance I will come back to you.

Will Miss You,

HaplySheGo.

How to install phpUnit

What is phpUnit?

PHPUnit is a unit testing framework for the PHP programming language. Created by Sebastian Bergmann, PHPUnit is one of the xUnit family of frameworks.

Why phpUnit?

To make code testing viable, good tool support is needed. This is where PHPUnit comes into play. It provides a framework that makes the writing of tests easy as well as the functionality to easily run the tests and analyze their results.

its better to install phpUnit with WAMP or XAMPP in your system
In my case I have a xampp installation in my system . if you dont have a xampp already installed in your system, here is how you can do it.

Installing XAMPP

  • Download XAMPP from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
  • Unpack the zip, don’t run any installer, just use the \xampp\xampp-control.exe to control the component (so the whole XAMPP directory can be moved to another drive without having absolute paths in all configurations files)

phpUnit needs the pear package installed in your php

so let start installing PEAR

  • Execute \xampp\php\go-pear.bat and follow the onscreen instructions. The installation will modify the include_path in your php.ini file.
  • Execute \xampp\php\PEAR_ENV.reg to add PEAR to the windows registry

Installing PHPUnit

  • Open a command prompt (cmd in windows)
  • Execute pear channel-discover pear.phpunit.de
  • Execute pear install phpunit/PHPUnit
  • Now you should find PHPUnit installed in \xampp\php\PEAR\PHPUnit\

And your phpUnit is ready to roll !!

Hi again

Hi people,

back again after a long time (as usual :P).. the freakishly busy days do not seem to end. after completing the first project of my life I thought there will be some time to get some fresh air. But already tied up with new responsibilities. still working 10-12 hours a day.

But yes I need to say that I HAVE COMPLETED THE FIRST PROJECT OF MY LIFE VERY SUCCESSFULLY.. the project came up at the threshold of my career.. it gave me the first feeling of completion, a lot of professional experience and a strong root to make a career.

The new project is in a different platform i.e codeignitor. but sadly I did not joined this one from its beginning. hope I will come up with it quickly.

I learned some very interesting things at the end of my old project.. things like web services.. I hope I will be able to write something about it in my next posts.

I’m a ‘twitting’ bird now

Hi all,

I’ve started twitting these days.. on twitter of course.. there is also the same old story.. I created an account for myself almost six months back.. and after that never visited the account for a single day..

One day I was just browsing my facebook account..  When Amit Sir(T.A of our office ) saw me and asked if I had any account on twitter , I said yes, He asked for the url.. And guess what.. I didnt know my account URL :p .. when after that I logged in and He showed me what happens in twitter.. :D .. Thanks to Amit Sir..

I found Twitter was a great way to be socially connected with technical people or technically connected with social people :D ..  A bit confusing .. isn’t it.. ya I like to confuse people..

well now I know my twitter URL, its https://twitter.com/payel ..

Hope to see you there on twitter.. twit twit(bye bye) :D

Buying my first Laptop

During my silent times I had been to home.. After a ONE WHOLE YEAR  I had been to home..Kolkata..that too in the time of Durga puja.. so full enjoyment..

meeting the school friends. the college friends relatives and going out for puja with friends is all I had to do..

but the biggest thing is that I was going to buy my first laptop there..

So, How did I choose my laptop.. being the first laptop.. it was a bit hard decision to take..

I did a lot of internet research and finally relied on Sony or Dell ..

after that I looked for the good models in both of the brands.. personally I liked vaio but my budget was 45K.. and sony Vaio CR343 was the only model I liked within that…

But when I went to buy my laptop I was not too impressed to see the model..the Dell laptops were offering me more advanced configuration in the same price.

On Vaio CR343 I was getting a 1.8 core2duo processor and 1 GB RAM in 42k while in Dell Inspiron series I was gettin a core2duo 2.0 Gz processor and 2 GB RAMin 43K..

I got confused and returned home that day coz I  like Sony so much and it was hard for me to take any on the spot decision..

I asked some of my friends about Dell laptops who have used it.. All said it’s good and also have good customer support and not much problematic…

SO decided for DELL..

Next day I went to the shop to decide the Dell model.. I liked the Blossom color too much and finally decided to buy it.

Its a core2duo 2.0 Gz with 2 GB RAM with Vista Home Basic… And specially to mention about it’s looks.. the look is awesome and perfectly suits my style..insp_1525_back_blossom So far its been so good to me and I’m perfectly satisfied with my choice.. I use it atleast 14-15 hours a day without any probelm..

its been beautiful and strong lappy for me.. :)

I’m Back

All these days I’ve been so bad to get completely detached with my blog.. if I were be you I would say   –  ” come on.. what the hell is this.. you promised to say about lot of things like php camp and all that.. and now you are gone.. completely invisible..”

ok..ok now stop accusing me..ok?? I had been a bit out of focus for some days.. but now I am back.. and back in a whole lot better way..

now I’m gonna be a real blogger.. and talk about anything…even if it is meaningless..

well now I think that’s enough for my comeback notification..

lets start blogging…..

HI all, Flock is cool….I am using blog with flock and Drupal

Blogged with the Flock Browser

How i started Drupal

HI there,

today I’m gonna write something about my drupal work today, how i started it..

After the completion of my training in PHP for 1 month..i was started learning Drupal..it was September 2007..I was a complete newbie in all those stuff and i didn’t have a pinch of idea about Drupal..It was the first time when I heard about it….On the very first day I installed drupal 5.2 and setup the DB..for that

> I downloaded a copy of drupal 5.2 zip version,

> unzipped and put it in my WWW folder and renamed it to ‘mydrupal’,

> Created one database  called “db_mydrupal”,

> Now opened the Drupal folder -> sites -> default -> found a file called settings.php with read-only attribute -> unchecked it to give the file the read-write acccess

> changed the mysql://username:password@localhost/databasename to mysql://mydbusername(root):mydbpassword(****)@localhost/db_mydrupal

> then again gave the file read-only access for safety..

> now opened my browser and run the install script (http://localhost/mydrupal/install.php)

————-AND MYDRUPAL IS INSTALLED

now created my first account with a valid email address….got my password by the email…reset it…and finally done.. quite easy if  you see…

There are five main sections for the control of the site in the administration section…they are

> Content management

> Site building

> User management

> Site configuration

> Logs

the drupal package comes with modules like forum, comment, blog, poll, profile which makes it great for a community site..here you can create user with specific permission you want instantly without installing any other module..you can make a site without any external effort..it looks great..

I did a lot of experiments and explored a lot of things on the very first day.. Thats it for today..I will come up with those in my next posts later..
